BSU 2023/2024 Matriculation Ceremony: Important Dates and Instructions

The 31st Matriculation Ceremony for fresh undergraduate students for the 2023/2024 academic session is scheduled as follows:

  • Date: Friday, 9th August, 2024
  • Time: 9:00 AM
  • Venue: New Convocation Square

Important Information:

  1. Attendance:

    • All Principal Officers and Members of Senate are required to process.
    • Heads of Units and other members of staff are requested to attend the occasion.
  2. Senate Members:

    • Kindly report at the New Convocation Square by 9:00 AM. The procession will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.
  3. Deans and Heads of Departments:

    • Liaise with the Directorate of ICT or Faculty ICT staff to access the list of registered students in your Faculty and Department.
    • Ensure all qualified candidates of your respective programs are properly registered.
  4. Orientation:

    • Scheduled for Tuesday, 6th, Wednesday, 7th, and Thursday, 8th August, 2024 at the New Convocation Square.
    • The Orientation Committee will release details of the exercise.
    • These days will be lecture-free for fresh undergraduates.
  5. Matriculation Gowns:

    • Faculty Officers will commence issuance of matriculation gowns to registered students from Friday, 2nd August, 2024.
    • Each student must pay a non-refundable fee of ₦1000.00 at Fidelity Bank Plc (Account No: 5030023693) or Zenith Bank (Account No: 1011136506).
    • Present the bank receipt to your Faculty Officer to collect the gown.
  6. Academic Office:

    • Issue appropriate matriculation gowns to Faculty Officers for onward lease to registered fresh students who have paid the fee.
  7. Senate Members’ Gowns:

    • Detail a staff member to collect your Academic gown from the Academic Office for the ceremony.
  8. Return of Gowns:

    • Fresh students must return matriculation gowns to the Faculty Officers for onward submission to the Academic Office by Tuesday, 13th August, 2024.
    • Late returns will attract a fine of ₦500.00 per day, payable to the Bursary Department of the University.
  9. Required Documents:

    • All fresh students must download and bring the following to the Orientation/Matriculation Ceremony from the University Portal (http://www.bsum.edu.ng):
      • Matriculation Oath
      • University Anthem (Alma Mater Song)
