Cross River Implements Ban on Motorcycle Usage

Governor Prince Bassey Otu of Cross River State has recently made an announcement regarding the prohibition of commercial motorcycles in all major cities within the state. This decision was conveyed through a press statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche.

The governor emphasized that the ban aims to establish a secure and safe environment in the state. However, he clarified that individuals who utilize their motorcycles for commercial purposes will still be allowed to operate, but only in remote areas away from the city center.

The statement reads, “After careful deliberation with key security officials in the state, Governor Senator Bassey Otu has issued a complete prohibition on the operations of all commercial motorcycles within the Calabar Metropolis.”

Additionally, the state government issued a stern warning against the vandalism of public assets such as streetlights, lamp posts, and traffic lights. Criminals were strongly advised to cease such activities immediately, as any culprits caught in the act will face severe legal consequences.
