The National President of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, has expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s recent actions, including the dismissal of the Service Chiefs and the appointment of their replacements. Shettima also commended the suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Shettima believes that these actions demonstrate President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing insecurity and corruption in the country. He sees the appointment of Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSA) as a positive step, emphasizing Ribadu’s principled nature and intolerance for corruption.

Regarding corruption, Shettima believes that President Tinubu’s actions indicate his determination to combat the issue. He specifically mentions the dismissal of Bawa and Emefiele as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to fighting corruption. He also suggests that other individuals, including governors who served in the previous administration, should be held accountable for their actions.

Shettima urges President Tinubu to focus on diversifying the economy by emphasizing agriculture and reducing states’ dependence on federal allocation. He suggests that states should pay taxes to the central government and harness their own resources. He also emphasizes the need to invest in the educational sector and ensure proper supervision. Additionally, he recommends opening up land borders for import and export with restrictions, in order to prevent smuggling and promote accountability.

Overall, Shettima expresses confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to address insecurity, corruption, and economic challenges in Nigeria.
