Arrest Made: Eight Kidnappers Involved in the Killing of INEC Employee Apprehended in Ebonyi

Mr. Emmanuel Ajah, the council chairman of Ivo Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, has confirmed the arrest of eight kidnappers involved in various criminal activities, including the killing of Emmanuel Igwe, a staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The suspects were apprehended following an intensive pursuit by security agencies.

The arrested individuals are also accused of abducting Igwe’s wife and committing the murder of the father of Ajah Okeafor, the Ohanaeze youth leader, during a yam harvesting activity. Fortunately, Igwe’s wife was safely rescued after a ransom payment was made.

Mr. Ajah emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two individuals, who are considered to be the major kingpins. The council chairman expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the security agencies in capturing the suspects.

The arrested kidnappers are believed to be responsible for several kidnapping incidents in the local area. In response, Mr. Ajah assured the community that he would mobilize security operatives to thoroughly search for the hideout of these criminals, aiming to prevent any future incidents.

Mr. Ajah appealed to the local residents to distance themselves from engaging in criminal activities, emphasizing that no one involved in such acts would be spared. He also urged the community to provide valuable information to the police, which could aid in capturing the remaining suspects.
