Babcock University 2023 Post-UTME: Eligibility and Registration Particulars

Babcock University (BU) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admissions into its 4, 5, or 6-year Degree Courses for the academic session of 2023/2024.

General Entry Requirements:

Candidates must possess a minimum qualification of 5 credits in the GCE/SSCE/NECO Examinations or their equivalent, obtained at not more than 2 sittings. For Medicine, only one sitting is allowed. Candidates below 15 years of age are advised not to apply. Candidates awaiting 2022 WAEC/NECO/SSCE results will need to present acceptable qualifications before matriculation.

All candidates who apply to Babcock University are required to take the current JAMB examination (for 100 Level) or apply for JAMB Direct Entry admissions (for Direct Entry). Transfer admission candidates must present JAMB Admission letter, Transcript, and Attestation Letter from the previous University.

School of Education & Humanities:

Department of History and International Studies:
– Degree Offered: B.A. (Hons.) History and International Studies
– Requirements: 5 credits in GCE/SSCE/NECO including English Language, Mathematics, History/Government, and any other 2 subjects.

Department of Languages and Literary Studies:
– Degrees Offered: 1.) B.A. (Hons.) English Studies 2.) B.A. (Hons.) French
– Requirements: For 1.) and 2.) above, 5 credits in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, and any other two subjects. For 2.), a credit pass in French may substitute for Literature in English.

Department of Religious Studies:
– Degree Offered: B.A. (Hons.) Christian Religious Studies
– Requirements: 5 credits in English Language, CRK, and any other 3 subjects. A pass in Mathematics is required for the program.

Department of Education:
– Degrees Offered: B.Sc. (Ed) Hons, B.Ed. (Hons), B.A. (Ed.) Hons.
– Requirements vary by degree. For example, 5 credits in English Language and Mathematics and any other 3 social sciences are required for Business Education and Economics Education.

Department of Music and Creative Arts:
– Degree Offered: B.A. (Hons.) Music
– Requirements: 5 credits in English Language and any other four subjects. A credit or pass in Music and Mathematics is an advantage.

School of Law & Security Studies:

The School of Law & Security Studies at Babcock University offers specialized programs to equip students for success in the fields of law and security.

Department of Law:
Degree Offered: LLB. (Hons) Law
Requirements: Aspiring candidates should have 5 credits in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, and any other two social science subjects.
Direct Entry: Candidates with Advanced level, Higher School Certificate, or a Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field from an accredited university with a second class lower division and above are eligible. Transcripts and O’ level results must be presented, as per the stated O’ level requirements.

SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES:

Department of Accounting:
Degree Offered: B.Sc. (Hons) Accounting
Requirements: To apply, students must possess 5 credits in English Language, Economics, Mathematics, and any other two relevant subjects.
Direct Entry: Holders of OND/HND/ACA/ACCA/ICMA/ATS, in addition to meeting the stipulated O’Level requirements, are eligible for Direct Entry.
Note: A candidate with a pass in Economics may still be considered, provided they hold a credit in Accounting or Commerce.
One Year Professional Training: Upon BSc Accounting program completion, students have the opportunity to enroll in a one-year professional class to prepare for ACA/ACCA/CITN/CIMA Certification Examinations. Exemptions under MOU with professional bodies can be granted after BSc Certification.
Internship: ACCA registered students will be attached to designated companies for practical experience during extended breaks from 100 Level to 400 Level, as outlined in the agreement with ACCA. If availability is limited, students will receive a letter for attachment to companies of their choice.

Department of Finance:
Degrees Offered: B.Sc. (Hons.) Finance
Requirements: Applicants should possess 5 credits in English Language, Economics, Mathematics, and any other two relevant Social Science subjects.

Department of Business Administration & Marketing:

Degrees Offered: B.Sc. (Hons.) Business Administration, B.Sc. (Hons.) Marketing
Requirements: Interested individuals should have 5 credits in English Language, Economics, Mathematics, and any other two relevant Social Science subjects.
Note: A pass in Economics could be considered, provided the candidate holds a credit in Commerce or Business Methods.

Department of Information Resources Management:

The Department of Information Resources Management offers a program tailored to prepare graduates for diverse roles in various organizations, equipping them with skills for positions such as Archivist, Database Manager, Digital Collection Librarian, Electronic Resource Manager, Records Manager, Special Librarian, Web Master, Information Architect, Multimedia Specialist, and more.

Degree Offered: BIRM (Hons) Information Resources Management
Requirements: To qualify for this program, applicants need to have 5 Credits in English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects, which can be from either the social sciences or pure sciences.

Veronica Adeleke School of Social Sciences:

Department of Social Work:

Degree Offered: BSW (Hons) Social Works
Requirements: Those seeking admission should have 5 credits, which must include English Language and Biology/Human Science, along with any other three relevant Social Science or Art subjects.
Direct Entry: Minimum credit grades at GCE Advanced level (or equivalent), Diplomas in Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Behavioral Health Technician, or a Bachelor degree in other disciplines are accepted.

School of Science & Technology:

Department of Agriculture & Industrial Technology:

The Department of Agriculture & Industrial Technology provides an innovative learning environment for students pursuing agricultural and industrial studies, offering various degree options.

Degree Offered: B.Agric. (Hons) with options in:
1. Agric Economics (5-year program)
Requirements: To be eligible, applicants need to have 5 credits (obtained at one or two sittings) in English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and Economics. Alternatively, a credit in Home Economics or Food & Nutrition, with at least a pass in Physics, is accepted.
Direct Entry: Holders of HND with a lower credit pass in relevant disciplines are eligible for direct entry. A minimum credit in Mathematics is mandatory.
Direct Entry: Candidates with an ND in relevant disciplines, along with five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Geography or Economics, with a pass in Physics, can apply for direct entry.

2. Agronomy & Landscape Design (5-year Program)
Requirements: Applicants are required to have 5 credits (attained at one or two sittings) in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and Economics. A credit in Home Economics and Food & Nutrition, with at least a pass in Physics, is also accepted.
Direct Entry: Holders of HND with a lower credit pass in relevant disciplines can apply for direct entry. A minimum credit in Mathematics is mandatory.
Direct Entry: ND holders in relevant disciplines with five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Geography or Economics, along with a pass in Physics, are eligible for direct entry.

3. Animal Science
Requirement: Prospective students need 5 credits (obtained at one or two sittings) in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and Economics. A credit in Home Economics or Food & Nutrition, with at least a pass in Physics, is also accepted.
Direct Entry: Holders of HND with a lower credit pass in relevant disciplines are eligible for direct entry. A minimum credit in Mathematics is mandatory.
Direct Entry: Candidates with an ND in relevant disciplines, along with five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Geography or Economics, with a pass in Physics, can apply for direct entry.

Requirements: For admission into this program, candidates should have 5 credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, or any other relevant subject, with at least a pass in Physics.
Direct Entry: In addition to the O’Level requirements, candidates with OND in Home Economics, Food Nutrition, or other relevant disciplines can apply for direct entry.

School of Public and Allied Health:

Requirements: To be eligible for this program, applicants should have 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and any other Social or Science subject relevant to Public Health.

Department of Medical Laboratory Science:

Degree Offered: BMLS (Hons) Medical Laboratory Science
Requirements: Prospective students need 5 credits (not more than two sittings) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Direct Entry:

(a.) In addition to the 5 credits in the subjects stipulated at O’ level, candidates must have a pass in GCE at Advance Level in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Zoology).

(b.) Graduates with at least a second class honour degree (lower division) in related disciplines are eligible to apply, in addition to the 5 credits in the subjects stipulated at O’ level.

(c.) Holders of Medical Laboratory Technician certificates with the 5 required credits in relevant subjects are also eligible to apply.

School of Nursing Science:

The School of Nursing Science is dedicated to producing skilled and compassionate nursing professionals.

Department of Nursing Science:

Degree Offered: BNSc. (Hons.) Nursing Science
Requirements: Aspiring candidates seeking admission into the School of Nursing Science Program for the Bachelor of Nursing Sciences degree must meet the minimum university requirements for admission, including an acceptable pass at the university Identity and Document Verification. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of credit (C) level passes at the senior secondary school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in five subjects, not more than two sittings. These subjects must include English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Registered Nurses (RN) with credit level passes in the SSCE subjects as listed above may be admitted through Direct Entry into 200 level, provided they satisfy other University admission requirements.
