Breaking News: New Army Chief Makes Significant Appointments, Including COPP, GOCs, Provost Marshall, and More [Full List]

The recently appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has given his approval for various appointments within the Nigerian army. Major General A.B Ibrahim has been appointed as the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP).

In addition, new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) have been appointed for several divisions of the Nigerian army. Major General Alabi will serve as the GOC for the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna, Major General E.A Abubakar for the 3 Division Nigerian Army in Jos, Major General Mala as GOC for the 7 Division, and Major General Chibuisi as the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai. Major General I. Ali has been appointed as the commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Furthermore, there have been appointments for key positions such as the Provost Marshall, Army, filled by Brigadier General Garba, the Chief of Military Intelligence, taken up by Brigadier General Ugiagbe, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), filled by Major General OCHAI. Other appointments include the Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, Commander of the Training And Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Minna, and Corps Commanders for Infantry and Artillery.

These appointments were necessitated by the retirement of some officers following the appointment of new service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu on June 19.
