Photos: Tinubu Joins Fellow Leaders at ECOWAS Summit in Guinea-Bissau

According to a report by Gurustab, the upcoming summit is set to tackle various significant regional subjects, with a particular focus on the ECOWAS Single Currency Programme and an evaluation of the barriers hindering the smooth movement of goods along the Abidjan-Lagos corridor.

In addition, the summit will delve into the findings presented during the 50th Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council (MSC), shedding light on the security challenges faced by member nations. Furthermore, there will be discussions based on the report presented at the 90th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers, which will cover the group’s financial status and the progress made in implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Lastly, an assessment of the political transition in the Republics of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea will also be addressed.

The summit promises to provide a platform for engaging dialogues on these pressing regional matters, fostering cooperation among member nations, and striving for collective progress in the ECOWAS region.

In a notable event, the president paid a visit to the Nigerian Troops stationed in Bissau, who form part of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Force. Tinubu, during his visit, arrived at the Aeroporto International Guinea-Bissau, just before the commencement of the 63rd Ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Accompanying Tinubu on this visit were several esteemed individuals, including Brigadier General Al-hassan Grema, the Force Commander of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Force. Additionally, Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, and Ambassador Adamu Lamuwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were also part of the delegation.

The visit served as a demonstration of support and solidarity with the Nigerian Troops stationed in Bissau, highlighting the commitment of the ECOWAS member states in maintaining stability within the region. The presence of high-ranking officials further emphasized the significance of the occasion and the importance of collective efforts in achieving peace and security.
