Violent Attack on SDP Governorship Campaign Secretariat in Kogi by Hoodlums

The campaign Secretariat of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, was targeted in an attack by suspected hoodlums. The incident took place on Sunday morning at the Secretariat located near Paparanda junction in Lokoja, the state capital. The glass frontage of the building was vandalized, and a banner featuring President Ahmed Bola Tinubu was torn down and set ablaze in front of the office.

Sam Abenemi, the running mate to the SDP governorship candidate, expressed his disappointment and condemned the attack as unfortunate and malicious. He revealed that the security personnel at the campaign Secretariat had been approached by some hoodlums the previous week, who demanded the removal of billboards and banners featuring Asiwaju Tinubu and Shettima from the premises.

Abenemi called upon the security agencies in the state to apprehend those responsible for the assault on the campaign Secretariat. He also urged party supporters to remain calm and resilient in the face of provocation. Emphasizing the close political bond between Ajaka and President Tinubu, Abenemi highlighted Ajaka’s admiration for the president and his dedicated efforts to ensure Tinubu’s success in Kogi State.

The Kogi State SDP expressed unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration and pledged to continue praying for his success. Abenemi added that despite attempts to intimidate them, the SDP and its supporters were confident in their prospects of winning the upcoming governorship election in November.
