Police and Local Hunters Collaborate to Raid Bandit Camps in Katsina, Neutralizing Five Terrorists and Arresting One

In a collaborative operation between the police, hunters, and vigilantes, five suspected terrorists have been eliminated during a clearance operation conducted in Batsari and Jibia Local Government Areas of Katsina State. The operation, driven by intelligence, also resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old notorious bandit named Abubakar Idris.

Furthermore, the joint security team successfully raided and dismantled several camps believed to be inhabited by suspected terrorists in Marake, Garin Yara, and Garin Labo villages of Batsari LGA. They also targeted the camp of Audu Lankai, a suspected bandit leader known for terrorizing Jibia LGA and its surroundings.

During the operation, led by the OC Anti-kidnapping Unit and OC SIB of the Katsina Police Command, a significant number of livestock were recovered, including 38 cows, 40 sheep, and 65 goats. The police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, highlighted that the scene is still being investigated for potential arrests of other camp members and the possibility of recovering additional evidence.

The clearance operation, which occurred on Saturday, June 17, 2023, reflects the commitment of the Katsina Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in combatting all forms of crime and criminal activities within the state. ASP Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement, urged the people of Katsina to continue providing crucial information to security agencies, as it is essential in the ongoing effort to eradicate crime in the state.
