The Oba of Idofin, Shedrack Durojaye Obibeni, and his wife have been abducted by unknown gunmen along the Makutu-Idofin road in Yagba East local government area of Kogi State.
Reports indicate that the assailants flagged down the monarch’s car at gunpoint on the evening of June 19. They subsequently abducted him and his wife, taking them to an undisclosed location. SP William Aya, the Kogi State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and assured that efforts were underway to secure the immediate release of the abducted couple.
The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Adesina Yusuf, has already deployed police personnel, in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes, to track down the criminals and rescue the victims.
